Jalapeño Watermelon Agua Fresca

This recipe is great for anyone looking to enjoy a refreshing summer mocktail while abstaining from alcohol. While you certainly can add tequila and triple sec if you prefer, I promise it is just as enjoyable without the alcohol.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tbsp sugar

  • 2 cups water

  • A medium watermelon

  • 2 jalapeños

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add sugar and water to a small sauce pan over medium high heat and bring to a bowl. Meanwhile, seed and cube your watermelon into 1 inch chunks. Add watermelon to a blender and blend.

  2. Once your sugar water mixture has come to a boil remove it from the heat and let it cool. After you have blended your watermelon, pour it through a mesh strainer to remove any lingering watermelon seeds.

  3. Very carefully without touching your face or eyes, slice jalapeños and remove seeds. In a pitcher, combine simple syrup watermelon, and jalapeños. Let marinate for approximately 1 to 4 hours to allow the spice from the jalapeños to permeate the juice.

  4. When you are ready to serve, top with a splash of soda water and garnish with a jalapeño slice.
